Dear Patient,

I thought you might want to know a little bit more about who I am as a practitioner and how I got involved in medicine.

My original interest in medicine stems from studying martial arts my entire life. I have been studying Japanese martial arts at the Wind School of Isshin Kempo for over 27 years. I have also trained the Afro-Brazilian art of Capoeira for the past 16 years. My martial arts career has really given me a unique perspective on movement analysis and physiology, as well as an appreciation for whole-being wellness and lasting health.

In college, I studied Chinese and Physics, both playing off each other and allowing me to look into the ancient past of asian culture as well as stay up to date on modern methods of looking at how our universe works and operates. Studying Chinese, I had the opportunity to live in Beijing, China for 6 months, where I found some high-level teachers in martial arts, immersing myself in QiGong healing forms, many of which I even prescribe to patients as physical therapy. I owe a great part of my more grounded view of acupuncture and energy healing to my physics studies in electromagnetism and quantum theory.

Throughout college, and even after college, I taught martial arts, but found myself looking for a more complete picture. In the Chinese tradition of martial arts, the teachers were also the village doctors and healers, so I decided to formally pursue Chinese Medicine. Since making that decision, I have been fortunate to have studied under many healing masters from numerous different medical backgrounds. However, I owe a lot to Dr. Ken Andes, who I have had the honor of following for the past several years. Thanks to his generosity and dedication to improving this form of medicine, he trained me in daily one-on-one instruction in the practices of Sujok Acupuncture, modern homeopathy, Medical QiGong, Clinical Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Bio-resonance testing, Neuro-muscular rehabilitation, toxicology, and Cold-Laser Therapy.

My experience has absolutely shaped the way I practice in my clinic and my passion for helping others reach their optimal health. Our society's health has evolved over the years, so our medicine needs to evolve in order to keep up and treat effectively. I am an advocate for patient education and making sure that the knowledge of good health gets passed on to others so that they may take responsibility for their own health and reclaim their  youth and vitality.

Yours in good health,

Roberto Andrade L.Ac.
